GOLDEN x Fashion Week MN:

With March upon us, the last stop of the Big Four’s fashion weeks continues in Paris. But for Fashion Week MN, things are just getting started.

Let’s be honest: accessibility has always been an issue within fashion. From the beginning, fashion weeks were centered on elitism and exclusivity, building an image of glamour to mask discrimination and intolerance. But in recent years, more and more creatives have taken initiative to highlight local talent by organizing fashion weeks of their own.

Enter: Fashion Week MN.

With a particular focus on artistic endeavors, building community, uplifting representation for marginalized people, and furthering a local equitable fashion ecosystem, the platform is revolutionizing the Twin Cities fashion scene for a common good.

Founded in 2015, Fashion Week MN holds fashion weeks in April and September, bringing in everything hot, from fashion shows and presentations to informative panels and shopping events.

Aside from the bustling and glitz of FWMN, the platform has continued to serve as host to a multitude of fashion events, promoting diversity and coalescence among the local creative community. Working alongside local designers and talent, FWMN is a gem for aspiring creatives and anyone interested in discovering the diverse marvels of the Twin Cities.

“Fashion can be kind of exclusive, but we’re really trying to break through that.” - FWMN CEO Sarah Edwards shared with Minnesota Monthly

In the past, FWMN has given space to Golden Magazine to produce the Golden Fashion Show, the fashion week’s first-ever student-led fashion show. The sold-out event was a unique experience for attendees and students alike; from chic looks to the booming energy of a live DJ, the runway was a sight to behold. The show itself was a testament to the style and boldness that can be found in young people willing to put themselves out there.

With FWMN recently announcing dates and theme for the Spring ‘23 show, you might wonder what's coming next—but all we can say now is good things come to those who wait ;)

So stay tuned…who knows what might happen?
