Role Model Concert Review

Role Model, who has been going viral on Tik Tok following his newest album “Kansas Anymore,” performed at The Fillmore on his No Place Like Tour Tour.
Despite the show starting at 8 p.m., fans were lined up for hours before the doors opened in order to get a good spot on the floor.
The show started with opener Debbii Dawson, whose music has a very ABBA tone to it. In the middle of her set, she folded a paper airplane of the night's setlist and sent it into the crowd.
After being greeted with heavy applause and a lot of screaming, Role Model started off his set list with the song “Writing’s on the Wall”, a very high energy opening song off his newest album.
Following the first song, he played one of his most famous songs “Look at That Woman,” which had the crowd singing and dancing along. Another notable performance was for the song “Old Recliners,” which was just recently released as a part of the deluxe album, “Kansas Anymore (The Longest Goodbye).” Despite this, the crowd knew every word to the song.
“Frances” was also a very striking performance due to its sudden switch to a slower, sadder song. The lights went almost completely dark and Role Model sat down and sang the ballad.
Role Model only played two songs that were not on the album, “a little more time” and “blind” both from previous albums. He also performed a cover of the 1975’s “Somebody Else,” which had the crowd full of energy.
One of the most awaited points in the concert comes during the song “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out,” where he brings someone from the crowd onto the stage with him. The Minneapolis ‘Sally’ was Ky Newman, a social media influencer and DJ. The song also includes the lyrics “cold like Minnesota,” which clearly had the Minnesotan crowd screaming along.
Role Model finished off the show with “Deeply Still in Love” which he teased he was going to skip. The crowd erupted when the intro started after he jokingly walked off the stage.
As fans, dressed in all-denim and red gingham outfits, poured out of the Fillmore onto the Wednesday night streets of downtown Minneapolis, they all mourned the fact that he didn’t play the song “Something, Somehow, Someday.”
Overall, leaving the show I was very happy with the energy and vibes Role Model brought to my Wednesday evening that, otherwise, would have been spent studying at home.
